Carmo’s Boutique Hotel
A family-owned architectural gem in northern Portugal
Carmo’s is a cozy fifteen-room boutique hotel in the Portuguese countryside, one hour north of Porto in Ponte de Lima.
Though the hotel is located in the oldest town in Portugal, the architecture is modern, designed by award-winning Portuguese architect Carvalho Araújo. The concrete chosen by the architect becomes affectionately involved in a dialogue between pau-santo, ivory, rosewood, Indo-Portuguese art and ancient church pieces.
The modern building gives way to airy rooms made up of draping fabrics and soft colors, and views of lush green hills the Limia River. These views are best enjoyed from the terrace during meals, or while taking the sun by the pool. Loving touches reveal the family ownership, as the mother and daughter team that run the property are known for their attention to detail. Carmo’s is a place where the past, the modern and the cultural roots blend and coexist harmoniously, distinguishing itself with its tradition, history and respect for the environment.
Don’t leave Carmo’s Boutique Hotel without: bedding. People travel from all over Spain to buy sheets from this area Portugal – they are truly indulgent, at a fantastic price.
