Bairro Alto Hotel
A relaxing boutique retreat in the heart of Lisboa's hottest neighborhood
Inaugurated on May 2005, in an eighteenth century building that once was the famous “Grand Hotel de L'Europe”, Bairro Alto Hotel was the first five-star boutique hotel in Portugal.
Capturing the indomitable spirit of discovery that Lisboa offers to its visitors, since the city has a longstanding connection with explorers, traders and settlers, Bairro Alto Hotel embraces and, at the same time, revolutionizes Portuguese traditional architecture.
The colors of the guestrooms are inspired by emblematic Lisboa: the yellow from the trams, the white marble from the flax, the blue which represents River Tagus and the red from Lisboa’s roofs.
Each room also features a different bird, hand-painted by a local artist, located in distinct places in every room to offer an element of surprise. The rooftop terrace also offers the best views of Lisboa and the perfect place to have a drink after a long day of exploring before dining at their delicious Flores do Bairro restaurant on the ground floor. We have a special place in our hearts for this hotel as the team constantly strives to go above and beyond for our clients.
They’ve just purchased a second building behind the current hotel, and will be expanding over the coming year, closing for 2018 to open a better-than-ever property.
Don’t leave Bairro Alto Hotel without: original pieces from nearby boutiques. The surrounding neighborhood is full of boutiques with unique designs from all over the country.
