Porto’s Saint John’s Night by Boat
Christian tradition and ancient summer solstice celebrations are fused in Porto on Saint John’s Night, and it is customary to light large bonfires near the sea to celebrate.
The highlights of the evening’s celebrations include fireworks and great music, drawing crowds of people to enjoy the summer evening and dance until the fires die out.
You will be able to share the local excitement while cruising down the Douro river on a private boat, from which you will have the most magnificent views of the fireworks and bonfire parties.
Enjoy a traditional Portuguese dinner as the skies above you light up, and keep an eye out for ghostly apparitions along the coast; there is magic in the air on this special night.
“I wanted to let you know that we so enjoyed our trip. Portugal was lovely - relaxed, original, with lovely people and food. We really liked the hotels in Lisbon, the Duoro Valley, and Porto. All the guides were great - very interesting and friendly. Northern Spain was beautiful and very different from southern Spain that it was all so interesting. The art guide at the Guggenheim was especially wonderful! We loved the people, the food, and the history. Highly recommend Made for Spain!!!!!
